GOD'S TIMING
GOD'S TIMING
John 11:5-6; 17
Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
So when He heard that he was sick, He then stayed TWO days longer in the place where He was.
...
So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb FOUR days.

Why did Jesus wait 2 days before He went to Lazarus? If He had went immediately, Lazarus would still have been dead 2 days! Seemingly there was nothing Jesus could do! But, wait!
There was a current belief that a person's spirit lingered around the body for 3 days hoping to reenter. If Jesus had gone immediately and raised Lazarus after 2 days, people would not have believed Him. They would have said he was just in a coma or something!
But after 4 days there was no question. Jesus raised Lazarus from death.
Remember this when it seems God is not answering your prayers. His timing is perfect!

A BETTER QUESTION
John 9:1-3
As He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth.
And His disciples asked Him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?"
Jesus answered, "It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him.

Who sinned, this man or his parents? This question came from the common belief that bad things were punishment for sins.
We have this idea around today! Sometimes it is a result of sin. But usually it is because we live in a fallen world.
Sometimes we have the idea that if we can blame something/someone we can control it. Not usually!
A better question is to ask how God will work in the situation. How can God get glory out of bad? He either changes the situation or He changes our understanding.

WHO GETS THE ATTENTION?
John 3:30
John the Baptist said, "He must increase, but I must decrease.

John had pointed to Jesus as the expected Messiah (Christ).
Many of John's followers began going to Jesus. Some of his disciples objected. But John said that is the way it should be.
We have various ministries in the church. But they all must point to Jesus. We must not draw attention to self.
He is the source of life! To Him be the glory!
