Happiness from God!

Psalm 144:12, 15 (NKJV)

12 That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth;
That our daughters may be as pillars, sculptured in palace style;
...
15 Happy are the people who are in such a state;
Happy are the people whose God is the LORD!
++++++++++++++++++++
Verses 13 and 14 are more blessings from God.
When we let God be LORD, He brings good things!
This is a lesson our nation needs to learn!
But it is also a lesson we as God's people need to learn!

God has a better idea!

Proverbs 19:20-21 (NKJV)
20 Listen to counsel and receive instruction,
That you may be wise in your latter days.
21 There are many plans in a man's heart,
Nevertheless the LORD's counsel -- that will stand!
+++++++++++++++++++++++
How about that!
Listen to God and become wise as your mature in years!
Indeed, God usually has a better plan! Listen.
Many examples of what happens when people do not seek God's counsel!

God provides

Psalm 104:10-13 (NKJV)
10 He sends the springs into the valleys;
They flow among the hills,
11 They give drink to every beast of the field;
The wild donkeys quench their thirst.
12 By them the birds of the heavens have their home;
They sing among the branches.
13 He waters the hills from His upper chambers;
The earth is satisfied with the fruit of Your works.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
If God so plentifully provides for the birds and animals,
how much more must He provide for His children!
Seems like Jesus said something like that. Maybe He read this!

Praise!

Psalm 100
1 Make a joyful shout to the
LORD, all you lands!
2 Serve the LORD with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
3 Know that the LORD, He is God
It is He who has made us; and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
5 For the LORD is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.

Victory over temptation!

I Corinthians 10:12-13 (NKJV)
12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but
God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you
are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that
you may be able to bear it.
++++++++++++++++++++
This verse was included in two of my readings this morning, so I thought
it might be needed by someone. Temptation is not a sin till we act on
it. We are told to flee temptation. Sometimes that means staying away
from certain places. But some temptations seem to come out of no where!
This verse tells us that God will always provide us with a way and power
to say "NO!" We must claim His deliverance.
If we say "I couldn't help myself" we are admitting that we did not
consult God about it. He does not tempt us (James 1:13), but He does
understand and will always give us a way out. Take it and run! In His
power. (See Phil 4:13)

Give thanks!

I Chronicles 16: 8-12 (NKJV)
8 Oh, give thanks to the LORD!
Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples!
9 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
Talk of all His wondrous works.!
10 Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD!
11 Seek the LORD and His strength;
Seek His face evermore!
12 Remember His marvelous works which He has done,
His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth.
++++++++++++++++++
Words from long ago, but talk of things ever new!
Remember to give thanks!

Don't worry -- Seek God!

Matthew 6:31-33 (NKJV)
31 "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall
we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
32 "For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly
Father knows that you need all these things.
33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all
these things shall be added to you.
+++++++++++++++++++
Just another reminder that since God knows all about our needs, we can
trust Him to provide for us. That is, if we are committed to following
Jesus as Lord and Savior. We are simply to seek His will in our lives.
Remember: To God be the glory!

Comfort from prayer

I Samuel 1:10-11, 17-18 (NKJV)

10 And she (Hannah) was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the LORD and wept in anguish.
11  Then she made a vow and said "O LORD of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head."
....
17 Then Eli (the priest) answered and said, "Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him."
18  And she said, "Let your maidservant find favor in your sight." So the woman went her way and ate, her face was no longer sad.
++++++++++++++++
Hannah was anguished because she had no children. She prayed to God for a son. After her prayer it says she was "no longer sad". I do not recommend bargaining with God like she did, but I do commend her trust in God! She is a good example of trusting in God! She was encouraged and her spirits lifted, after praying -- not just when she received her desire.
She is also to be commended for following through with her vow. (See the rest of this chapter.)
Lesson: Be honest about your desires, and trust God to provide for you. He may have a better idea, but trust Him!

Trust God alone!

I Chronicles 5:20 (NKJV)

And they were helped against them, and the Hagrites were delivered into
their hands, and all who were with them, for they cried out to God in
the battle. He heeded their prayer, because they put their trust in Him.

+++++++++++++++ That last line caught my attention. God answered prayer
"because they put their trust in Him." Who do you trust? God is the only
stable One who can always be trusted! I'm afraid too many of us trust in
education, jobs, or government for solutions to our problems. God is the
one to be trusted! And our access to Him is through Jesus Christ!
