TO THE GLORY OF GOD!

SUBMITTING TO GOD'S GLORY

John 12:20-33

Matthew 26: 36-46

ACKNOWLEDGING HIS PURPOSE (John 12:24-26)

   Death brings life (24)

   Surrender leads to life (25)

He points to the Father through example of service(26) JESUS FACING THE CROSS (John 12:27-28)

He shared his human anguish (27a)

He had a personal question of action (27b).

He expressed his commitment to His purpose. (27c)

His life's goal was to glorify God. (28)

FINAL SUBMISSION (Matthew 26:36-46)

He went about His usual pattern of prayer.

He again admitted his sorrow and anguish.

   He took along some friends.

He went alone before the Father.

      "Deliver me if you can."

Never the less, "Thy will be done."

      He trusted the Father.

He went out to meet the betrayer. He did not run.

HE GAVE US A PATTERN FOR LIFE

   Commit to follow God.

Seek His council through the Word, prayer, and friends.

Trust God, even when you don't understand what happens.

   Obedience is what God wants

The end result is to be "His glory."

As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, let's remember the cross came first. Let's remember that Jesus did it for the Father and for us. We should respond in obedience and trust. Can we do anything less?
