HOLY SPIRIT
HOLY SPIRIT AT WORK
John 14:15-21, 26; 16:5-16
INTRO: In these two chapters, Jesus taught much about the Holy Spirit. He said He must go away and then He would send the Holy Spirit. He lists at least 4 things that the Holy Spirit would do. He continues in this work today.
CONVICTION (16:8-10)
Concerning sin because man does not believe in Jesus
Concerning righteousness because Jesus was leaving
In Jesus is righteousness.
Concerning judgment because the ruler of this world (devil) has been judged. His judgment passes to men who refuse Jesus offer of forgiveness!
INSTRUCTION
Inspiration of scripture
He will teach you all things (14:26)
He will guide into truth (16:13)
He will remind us of what Jesus said. (14:26)
CONSOLATION
He is the Helper (14:16 & 26)
GLORIFY GOD (16:14)
Points to Jesus, not himself
CONCLUSION: The Holy Spirit is the presence of God within us. He continues in the same work today. Will we let Him do his work??? He leads us to Christ. Then He guides us in our life.
