Jesus' Care for His Mother

John 19:25-27

25  Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.

26  When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

27  Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

Last words # 4

We know that Jesus had at least 4 half brothers and 2 half sisters (Matthew 13:55-56). We hear nothing of Joseph after the visit to temple when Jesus was 12 (Luke 2). It appears that Joseph had died and Jesus as oldest son had assumed the care of his mother and maybe the brothers and sisters till they were grown. So even in death he continued his care of his mother, by entrusting her to his beloved disciple.
Even in death His concern was for those around Him! Seems like a good example for us to be concerned for others!
