New Hope

Luke24:21-24;31-32 (NASB)
21  But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is the third day since these things happened.
22  "But also some women among us amazed us. When they were at the tomb early in the morning,
23  and did not find His body, they came, saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said that He was alive.
24  "Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just exactly as the women also had said; but Him they did not see."
....
31 They their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight.
32  They said to one another, "Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?"
++++++++++++
   After the crucifixion the followers of Jesus were puzzled. In this passage we find two of them returning to their home. The resurrected Jesus came to walk with them. They did not recognized Him and explained their hopelessness and sadness. He shared Scripture, shared a meal with them, and was then revealed to them. They now have new hope!
   Today as we reflect on the meaning of the cross AND empty tomb, we have a hope that the world does not have. Indeed, we have a new hope when we trust in Jesus as Savior. We have something to celebrate!!!
